A PLANNED strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union tomorrow has been called off.
A spokesman for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service said this afternoon the strike, which could have seen some firemen at Taunton and Bridgwater taking action leaving Wellington and Wiveliscombe without back-up during major incidents, had been postponed while further negotiations take place in the dispute between the FBU and the Government over pension reforms.
The local stations are manned by part time retained foremen whose union had not balloted its members on strike action.
