A FIREWORK company has applied for permission to store fireworks on a site at Wrangway, Wellington.
Exeter-based Angelfire Pyrotechnics wants to stiore fireworks in two container units, and has also applied for the provision of an additional three container units for the storage of fire works for five years.
As reported in the WWN in September, the company originally denied claims it is to store fireworks in ten steel agricultural containers in a field near Wrangway.
A spokesman for Angelfire emphasised that the company would not be processing explosives or manufacturing fireworks on the site.
He said the company had applied for a "magazine license" from the Health and Safety Executive to cover ten stores, the maximum allowable, to allow for possible future expansion of the copmpany.
But Chris Tolchard, chairman of Wellington Without parish council, said: "We found out about the plans by chance, when one of our members spotted a public notice.
"We want full public consultation to take place."
