Wellington Flower Show is scheduled to go ahead on Saturday, August 28, although on a smaller scale than usual.
As well as flowers, fruit, vegetables and pot plants there will be flower arranging and children’s classes.
As a precaution against Covid, refreshments will not be for sale, there will be no stallholders and, although trophies will be awarded as usual, they will not be handed over.
Because the show has had no income from advertisers, sponsors, door money, raffle or refreshments, there will be no prize money – but the whole event will be free for visitors and exhibitors.

A one-way system will operate in the hall with separate entrance and exit points.
“We realise this is disappointing but it is just as a result of the current situation,” said a spokesman. “We are making everything as straightforward as possible.”
