TRADITIONAL spring flowers and lilies in memory of  loved ones adorned St Mary’s Church, Hemyock, for Easter Sunday.

Particularly striking was the arrangement of lilies by flower co-ordinator Monica Smith and the Easter garden by David Bawler and Cheyenne Jordan.

The service conducted by Rev David Burton began with the Easter Vigil – no lights or candles lit prior to the Pascal candle which in turn saw the altar and individual congregation candles lit and lights switched on. After which the first hymn was sung.

The service of Holy Communion followed the renewal of Baptism promises when water from the font was sprinkled over those present.

Although building work is taking place at St Mary’s the church is open every day and visitors are welcome to view the beautiful floral arrangement.
