HOT-SHOT footballer Patrick Smith, 15, from Uffculme has been looking at life behind the headlines on work experience at the WWN.
Patrick, who attends Uffculme School, is not sure what he wants to do when he finishes his education but loves Science – especially Physics – and that may influence his career choice.
He said: “I enjoyed my week at the WWN and it was good to learn about the advertising side of the newspaper, as I had no knowledge of that beforehand.
“The editorial side was not what I expected – I had thought about the writing but not the production aspect of the newspaper.”
Patrick is a ‘floating’ centre forward and scored about 30 goals for Cullompton Rangers Under-15s last season.
He plans to go into sixth-form, probably at Exeter College, and study for an International Baccalaureate Including English, Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology and French.
Patrick also likes Drama and was in Uffculme School’s production of the Lion King in March and the Whiteball Tunnel play presented at St John’s Church in Wellington in 2014.
