BAGS of litter were collected on Thursday when town councillors and officers rolled up their sleeves in a two-hour footbath litter blitz.
The clean-up was organised by Wellington Deputy Mayor Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams after inspections of local footpaths highlighted paths leading from Howards Road, Longforth Farm and Crosslands, Tonedale were notably littered.
Councillors James Hunt, David Mitton, Janet Reed and Vivienne Stock-Williams as well as town clerk Greg Dyke and assistant Debbie Rugg went out armed with litter pickers, gloves and bags provided by Paul Saturley, Parks Superviser and Shaun Cregan of Taunton Deane Borough Council to retrieve drinks bottles, glass, wrappers and plastic bags left by litter louts.
