FORMER Wellington rugby player Tony Perry has died at the age of 89 after a short illness.

Mr Perry moved away from Wellington in his early 20s after marrying Pat and lived in Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire for 67 years.

He returned to Wellington only recently and visited the street where he grew up - Alexandra Road.
