A FORMER teacher, Kate Hilda Storey, who has travelled and lived in many different parts of the world, celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday at the Oaktree Court Care Home in Wellington where she has resided for the past three and a half years.

She received a congratulatory card from the Queen and a bouquet of flowers from the Mayor of Wellington Janet Lloyd.

She was born on 4 September 1915 to parents Kitty and Thomas Hutt in Sheffield and was one of a family of five children, having two brothers and two sisters.
