FREE parking in Wellington’s car parks could ease the town’s traffic troubles and help its shopkeepers, according to one resident, who would like to see the idea given a trial run.

Government looking at Wellington community hub as example of good practiceMarie Troake, who was runner-up for the Liberal Democrats in a by-election to the town council in October, says the North Street, Longforth Road and South Street car parks often have lots of spaces, but Longforth Road is filled with cars despite many of the houses having off-road parking, as are nearby roads.
Stopping drivers parking in those locations and offering free parking in the car parks would improve the town’s traffic situation.
