Freemasonry has a reputation for being a secret organisation with influence in high places. Nowadays it is much more open about its membership and its relationship with the wider world.
In a forthcoming talk, Adrian Ridout, a Mason for about 40 years, will explain the origins, purpose and ethics of Freemasonry, and what it does for the benefit of society as a whole.
He will also talk about its symbols and who is eligible for membership.
Adrian will attempt to correct incorrect reports, preconceptions and prejudice about Freemasonry in the 21st Century.
The talk is at Wellington Prep School Hall in South Street, on Thursday, April 25, at 7.30pm. The talk is arranged by and in aid of Wellington Local History and Museum Society. Entry is £3 or £2 for Museum Society members.
