DESPITE the recent unsettled weather Nynehead Garden Club Flower Show at the village hall on Saturday had near record entries in the vegetable, fruit and flower sections.

The cookery and handicrafts sections also had good entries, well up on recent years. Entries from young people were slightly down but the standard was very good.

The hall was packed with visitors which kept the kitchen and raffle busy all afternoon.

The organisers would like to thank everyone who gave cakes for the kitchen and the raffle prizes, and the excellent team of judges.

Section winners were: vegetable – K Haslam, leeks; fruit – Mrs Inder, plum; rose – Chris Coombe, floribunda rose; flower – Jan Fox, dahlia; most points and cookery – Vicky Lovall; craft shield – Brenda Horton; Village Shield – young person – Isla Hendy; most points in show – Keith Haslam.
