Mayor of Wellington Gary James presents the Swallowfield Cup to George Walker on behalf of Beech Grove Primary School in the town.

The school shared the trophy with Eclipse Juniors following last year’s carnival.

Beech Grove was due to receive the cup in February but the presentation did not take place.

Carnival chairman Dave Rylatt said: “The effort Beech School always puts into Wellington Carnival makes us very proud and – Purple Crowd excepted – the biggest entrant for Wellington Carnival. 

“We look forward to welcoming Beech Grove School back to carnival in 2018 – your entries are a credit to your school and our town.”
