EXASPERATION over the future of Wellington's 'ghost' superstore has come to a head, with the town's councillors uniting in a call for urgent action to get the store open.

The store, in Red Lion Court, off High Street, was completed in January and has lain empty ever since.

As reported in the WWN last week, the glass frontage of the building has been boarded up after thieves stole steel cable from the site.

Now, frustrated town councillors have agreed to write to the Co-op and the Office of Fair Trading in a bid to clarify the situation.

A spokesman for the Co-op confirmed that the company was still no closer to making a decison on the Wellington store.
