In round 2, Years 2, 3 and 4, bolstered by Mr Stead and Mr Beviss, played against Matthew but the games were quickly over, the Bad Bishops losing 34-0.
Finally, Matthew played two games blindfolded, his opponents giving their moves as grid references. The grandmaster won both games in half an hour.
Grandmaster is a title awarded to chess players by the world chess organisation and, apart from World Champion, is the highest title a chess player can attain.
