Eco-group Transition Town Wellington will have a stall at the eat:Wellington food and drink festival on Saturday.

Visitors to the stall can find out about the variety of practical TTW projects to help tackle climate change and the ecological crisis.

Members will be on hand to talk about community gardening sessions, Fox’s Field and how to get involved.

Gardening for Wildlife booklets will be available to pick up free of charge, as well as bronze, silver and gold certificates, a prize for gold star gardens and free wildflower seeds.

Forms will be available to fill out for residents to say what habitats they provide in their gardens.

The aim is to connect gardens throughout the town as a green corridor, with holes in fences for creatures to pass through, pit stops for insects to refuel and homes for wildlife to stay permanently.

TTW is running a Fruit Harvest Project for the third year – harvesting apples from local orchards and individual trees.

This is a type of ‘gleaning’ where apples which would otherwise be wasted are made into juice, for sale at The Blue Pantry to raise funds for TTW.

Information is available at the stall for anyone interested in going to one of the picking days or doing a shift at the main juicing day, likely to be in mid-October. Either chat to members at the stall or contact [email protected]

Information can also be found on the website at ttw.org.uk or the Transition Town Wellington Facebook page.
