SUPERMARKET chain Waitrose is hoping to bring some Christmas cheer to elderly, homeless and vulnerable people in the Wellington area.

The retailer will help support local Christmas lunch events for people who might otherwise be on their own on Christmas Day.

Event organisers, or people thinking of organising an event, are asked to get in touch before an October 22 deadline – the business will offer food, money and other resources.

Manager of the Wellington store, Tim Broadhurst, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer our support to a Christmas lunch in Wellington and we would encourage organisers to contact us with their plans.”
