FOR the last decade a joint campaign between Age UK and Innocent Drinks has seen mini mini hats appearing on drink bottles in supermarkets.
The campaign has raised funds to help vulnerable older folk as every behatted bottle sees 25p donated to the charity.
The money raised has provided funding for local and national projects to help older people keep the cold at bay and stay well through warm meals, cold weather support, and befriending visits, along with other vital services.
The Big Knit has seen hundreds of knitters trying to reach the 2016/17 target of two million mini hats.
One of these is Janice Bawler, of Hemyock, who has handed 100 hats into the Taunton Age UK shop.
She said: “Knitting has never been a strong point of mine but the variety of patterns suggested means that even a novice like me is able to enjoy the work knowing that Age UK will benefit and customers who purchase a bottle will have a smile brought to their face.”
