For anyone seeking to achieve a goal, whether in health and fitness or in life, the initial key is having the belief you can achieve it. Without first convincing the mind, the body cannot follow.
The mind – and ultimately the body’s actions – will focus on the things you choose to focus on. If all you see are the negative aspects, then don’t be surprised when you don’t have a positive outcome.
If all you keep telling yourself is: ‘I can’t, it’s not possible, it can’t be done,’ then you will likely focus on the negative aspects of why it can’t be done and ultimately fail, blaming those reasons for the failure.
Think glass half-empty/half-full scenario. Do you view a scenario with a positive outlook, identifying all the possibilities, or go straight to all the reasons why it won’t work and will end in failure? In the words of Confucius: “Those that think they can and those that think they can’t are both usually right.”
