The League of Friends of Wellington Hospital has been busy funding more equipment for health care.

It is paying for four extra syringe drivers for the district nursing team costing £4,680 which will be used in end of life care.

Wellington Community Hospital is being used for a baby clinic and the friends are funding a temperature-controlled cool box so childhood immunisation vaccines can be transported to and from the hospital.

The friends also bought Easter eggs and chocolates for patients and staff in Pyrland Ward in Taunton. This is a unit off Cheddon Road which cares for people with severe dementia and those with severe depression. The friends understand people from Wellington are among patients and four members of staff from Wellington Community Hospital have been temporarily transferred there.

This year’s hospital fete, which was to take place on May 30, has already been cancelled.

It is still hoped the cream tea on Saturday, July 11, can go ahead but this will depend on the coronavirus situation and a decision will be made nearer the date.
