ONE of Wellington’s oldest charities is helping to provide weekly music sessions for pupils at St John’s Primary School in the town.

The church’s director of music, John Young, who has a reputation as an inspiring and enthusiastic choir conductor, is providing the sessions.
The charity is over 400 years old and was set up by the will of Sir John Popham, who was Lord Chief Justice of England. He also provided 12 almshouses – Popham Flats in Victoria Street, Wellington.
