ALMOST 200 people gathered at St Mary’s Church, Hemyock, for the annual Remembrance Sunday service.

The service was preceded by a parade from the parish hall which included the church choir, uniformed youth groups and members of the public.

Rev David Burton took the service with a reading by Hazel Partridge and the poem ‘I Am Not a Badge of Honour’ read by David Bawler.

At the war memorial wreaths were laid on behalf of the parish council, 1st Hemyock Scout Group, 1st Hemyock Brownies and the primary school, with the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph led by Tim Barton.

The collection of £444 is to be given to the Royal British Legion.
