Children at Beech Grove Primary School in Wellington used the run up to half-term and Hallowe’en for a host of fun activities.
Pumpkin week in the Woodlands EYFS unit started with an investigation into the squash plant family.
The children measured and weighed, opened and compared the insides of nine species of pumpkins.
They cooked a delicious soup and tasted pumpkin bread.
Then they learnt about seeds and how a pumpkin grows – and that the pumpkin is technically a fruit.
The week culminated in a spooky day! Reception children made potions, learnt to spin on a 100-year-old spinning wheel and made slime.
