Buoyed by the news that Wellington Community Hospital is set to re-open in January, the League of Friends held their annual Christmas coffee morning at South Street Baptist Church on Saturday, raising about £500 for funds.

The event was well supported, despite the dreary weather. “There was a really good buzz in the room,” said LoF chairman Annette Cardwell. “It was good to see so many people there having a chat with friends and picking up bargains. We are very grateful for everyone’s continued support.”

At its recent meeting the trustees agreed the request from the district nursing team for the purchase of a Doplar machine. The nursing team will use this piece of equipment, costing about £1,000, to check blood pressure levels of patients in their homes.

A request from Stratfield House to fund a small Christmas party for clients and staff was also readily agreed.
