MEMBERS of the Young at Heart Club enjoyed a fun-filled Christmas party at Uplowman village hall.

Wellington couple Lloyd and Diana Yorke started the club with the aim of providing a unique day service for older lonely people in the community.

The party had plenty to entertain members and ensure they had a great time. The day included entertainment from Malcolm the Magician from Taunton, pass the parcel and trophy awards to the winners of the Curling League.

Members also enjoyed a Christmas lunch with all the trimmings and a choice of four desserts. After lunch, a huge Christmas draw included three hampers and dozens of prizes.

The party ended with a Christmas carol service with friends and family joining in the festivities.

The club recently featured on local television highlighting the important work it does to help tackle loneliness and isolation.

Lloyd and Diana said: “Since starting the club in 2014 we have seen attendance increase dramatically. We would like to thank our volunteers who help our not-for-profit club provide such a valuable service to the community.”
