JOB prospects in Wellington improved this week as the town's biggest employer announced vacancies in most departments.

The news that the company, one of the UK's leading manufacturers and importers of beds and bedroom furniture, is anxious to recruit production operatives and team leaders, along with maintenance and security operatives, will boost hopes that the town could at last be clambering out of recession, which has seen the closure of a number of local retailers, including Woolworth.

Recruitment at Relyon follows Swallowfield's announcement last week that it is to invest more than £500,000 enhancing its manufacturing facilities.
