THE ever-popular West Somerset Railway Association Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally is at Norton Fitzwarren on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4.
This year, new ways are on offer to get to the event. Rally-goers can travel free on the new Great Western Railway shuttle from Taunton railway station into the heart of the rally on Saturday. Trains leave Taunton at 09.35, 10.27, 12.10, 15.37 and 16.36.
They can also travel free on a 1967 vintage bus from Taunton bus station via Norton Fitzwarren on Saturday and Sunday. Times are: Taunton bus station – 10.00, 11.30, 14.00 and 15.30, stop at Norton Fitzwarren (outside the Co-op) at 10.20, 11.50, 14.20 and 15.50.
On both days, rally-goers can travel on the West Somerset Railway. There are trains all the way from Minehead, with a special early service at 08.45. Finally, there is also the usual free, regular shuttle train from Bishops Lydeard, where free car parking is available.
