THE King’s Arms Community Hub has been selected as a donation point for an annual Christmas campaign.
A collection basket has been set up at the community hub for Home Instead’s ‘Be a Santa’ campaign, which sees them collects gifts for older adults in the community who are sick, vulnerable, or spending Christmas alone — delivering these presents over the festive period.
Presents can include items such as a box of biscuits, slippers or even toiletries.
Despite the campaign being in its 11th year, this is the first time that the King’s Arms has been able to participate in it as a donation point, as it only opened back in September.
Home Instead are encouraging people to donate presents due to the fact that Christmas can be a very difficult time for those who are feeling isolated or lonely.
All donated gifts will be shared with older adults who may not otherwise receive a present this Christmas or who may be apart from family and friends.
Mark Hunt, director of Home Instead Taunton & West Somerset, said: “The local community has been hugely supportive in past years, helping us to collect over a thousand presents.
“Feelings of isolation and loneliness can certainly be heightened during the festive period, and it’s lovely to be able to reach out to people and let them know we are thinking of them at this time.
“We know how community-spirited local people are and are looking forward to receiving many donations again this year at all our collection points. Our sincere thanks go to our partners and collection hosts for helping us bring the campaign to their locations.”
Other locations of collection baskets for Be A Santa 2025 include Specsavers Taunton, the Tesco Express by Galmington Centre, Priorswood Community Centre, and the Home Instead office in Comeytrowe Centre.
