A SINGLE sign has just appeared in Popes Lane, Rockwell Green, warning of yet another three-week road closure from October 8. I have lost count of how many times we have suffered road closures in recent years but the saga continues.
I worry about having only single lane road access through Linden Lane for the several hundred residents of the Westford area and how emergency services might navigate this treacherous alternative route? I hope someone at the council has properly assessed the risks?
What really annoys me is the complete disregard for government guidance on street works, and the need to inform and consult with local people, councillors and emergency services etc. A single small road sign is hardly notification let alone consultation.
There is an easy solution if the bollards were temporarily removed to allow access through Greenway Road but no one thinks to ask us, the local people, about possible alternative routes.
Yet again, the residents of Rockwell Green and Westford are being shabbily treated by our county council.
