Sampford Arundel WI members are having a meeting of minds, if not bodies, this month, making do with email, phone calls and so on. All groups are running as they like – which they do any way, so no change there. One reading group managed to get in ‘under the wire’ and are reading ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ by Ellie Griffiths. The others are each choosing individual books and passing on their opinions to the rest –and probably not just about the books.

Truly beautiful creations from the craft and art groups are expected, while members of the lunch club will have a most delicious meal – they’ll just have to cook it themselves. At least wine would be allowed – no driving. Whist could be ‘Patience’ perhaps – with no cheating. Walkers will just have to wave and smile to each other in passing,

Members need to consider the arguments for the national resolutions and think about what new direction they want the WI – nationally – to take. All meaty stuff, found in ‘MyWI’ and ‘WI Life’. Then they could all make something for the county community projects – perhaps even more appreciated just now – finger puppets, blankets, twiddle muffs. The village day, fete and WI County Show are all cancelled.

Members are looking forward to meeting face to face before too long – perhaps some will have changed the length and colour of their hair.
