WIVEY Action on Climate gave away free LED light bulbs from a stall in Wiveliscombe Community Centre.

Action group chairman Patricia Robertson said: “New LEDs are by far the best energy-saving bulb now available. They switch on instantly, use 86 per cent less power than old incandescents and should last for 15 years or more.

“The technology has greatly improved in recent years and LEDs should be the choice of new bulb for everyone for nearly all lighting uses.”

The free bulbs were funded from profits of local solar power through a grant from Brendon Energy Coop’s community fund.
