TAUNTON Deane MP Rebecca Pow will be joining Wellington residents and the Basins Volunteer Group to help tidy up their local area ahead of HM The Queen’s 90th birthday.

A litter pick, organised by Cllr Bob Bowrah, will be taking place on Saturday from 10am, meeting at the Basins Container before being allocated an area to be covered.

Rebecca said: “This is a great opportunity to make sure we get Taunton Deane neat and tidy in time for HM The Queen’s official 90th birthday on April 21.

“Although the big litter pick will take place over 4, 5 and 6 March, people can get involved whenever they like.

“It is the support and action people are taking, and not the dates, which are important.

“I really hope people in Taunton Deane will consider getting involved so together we can help mark this momentous occasion.”

The event is being supported by local businesses including Waitrose, Greggs, Costa Coffee and the Rotary Club nationally.

To get involved, phone 01823 666739. Volunteer groups are also invited to put their names forward. For full information on the event, visit www.cleanforthequeen.co.uk
