TWO young musicians from Wellington have performed their own piece of work with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Brother and sister Michael and Yasmine Qureshi played ‘Fluto no uto’ with the orchestra and rising star conductor Alpesh Chauhan at the BBC Ten Pieces Prom.
Michael and Yasmine are both students from Hestercombe Centre for Young Musicians, a division of the Guildhall School based in Taunton.
They created ‘Fluto no uto’ during the spring term at the centre with fellow student Evie King, in collaboration with Actiontrack Performance Co in Taunton.
Composer Gareth Glyn arranged their piece for the BBC Philharmonic to provide a spell-binding and luscious orchestral backdrop.
The centre provides professional music education to children aged five-18 each Saturday during term time for just over £5 an hour. It is staging an open day on Saturday, September 17 – book on 07754 217993 or visit www.hestercombe.
