WHILE youngsters around Wellington were ‘trick or treat’ calling on residents for Halloween last week, members of a town church were adapting the tradition for a different purpose.

Living Light Christian Church members put on their fancy dress outfits and knocked on doors in the Rockwell Green area.

But they were instead making a ‘Trick or Tin’ food collection for charity.

Church spokesman Kevin Parker said: “The residents really got behind their efforts and donated over 500 kg of food this year.

“Previous participants from Buckwell, in Wellington, also phoned up to contribute to the food haul, all of which is being given to Wellington Food Bank and the Best Before Food Store, in Rockwell Green.

“The church members want to express their thanks to all who took part in helping to relieve food poverty in Wellington.”
