THIS picture, sent in by Russell Patten, shows a lorry stuck in the hamlet of Payton, on the back lane between Westford and Holywell Lake.

He said the vehicle had ignored a warning sign at Westford and then a second one, and that it took residents, with the help of a local farmer, most of the afternoon to help the driver reverse over half a mile.

He added that it caused huge inconvenience to everyone in the area and said that such incidents were not an uncommon occurrence.
