TRAFFIC was gridlocked on the southbound M5 at Wellington on Saturday morning after a car left the road leaving one dead.

The man in his 20s, believed to be from the Tiverton area, and unofficially named as Daniel Gunn, died as a result of his injuries in the incident, which happened at 6.13am. Two others were taken to Musgrove Park hospital where their condition was said to be life threatening.

One vehicle only was involved.

The motorway reopened around 1pm.
