A GRIM discovery in woodland near Wellington was made by emergency personnel searching for a missing man in the early hours of Monday (October 6).

Members of Exmoor Search and Rescue Team (ESRT) found a man dead in woods on Langford Common, Langford Budville, at about 1.10 am.

The team was called by police shortly before midnight to help look for a man who had been reported missing.

The missing man’s family have been told of the discovery.

Police said the death of the man found by the searchers was not believed to be suspicious and a file would be prepared for the coroner

An ESRT spokesperson said: “Four foot teams searched woods and fields, finding the person after a short while.”
