MAYOR of Wellington Cllr Gary James has called into Nurtured by Nature in South Street in the town to highlight a new recycling scheme.

The shop is acting as a collecting point for plastics such as crisp packets, personal care and beauty packaging, toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes.

The recycled items will go to Taunton-based charity Compass Disability Services which will receive money in return thanks to its partnership with the TerraCycle UK recycling initiative.

Other waste that can be recycled includes cracker, biscuit and cake wrappers, baby food pouches and air and homecare packaging such as plastic bottle tops, pumps, caps and trigger sprays.

Milk bottle tops, chocolate wrappers and other food packaging is not accepted.

Cllr James said: “I think it is a marvellous initiative by Nurtured by Nature to do this on behalf of Compass and to highlight what can be disposed of in a proper way.”
