WELLINGTON mayor Andrew Govier has pledged to force Taunton Deane Borough Council's hand after the plug was pulled on £600,000 of funding for planned refurbishment.
Together with Wellington councillor Ross Henley he is to hold talks with Deane officials in a bid to get some of the money to spruce up the deteriorating pool.
The refurbishment project at the Coram's Lane pool was to have been funded by a grant of £350,000 from Sport England, and a contribution from the council of £250,000.
The council voted against making its own contribution last Tuesday after hearing the Sport England grant would not be forthcoming following spending cuts made by the new coalition Government.
