When a Hemyock resident posted on social media the question: ”Does the village have a rock snake?” The answer was ‘no’ but within days one began to appear.

People were invited to add a rock to the snake and it now measures about 60ft with around 150 stones, all beautifully decorated, mainly by young people.

Residents were asked to suggest a name and a great variety rolled in. After  three were shortlisted, Rainbow Rocky, suggested by Janice Bawler, was voted the winner.

Rainbow Rocky can be found between Hemyock Castle and St Mary’s Church and is planned to remain until the end of the summer. Anyone would like to to add a decorated stone is welcome to do so.
