TEN people are needed to become volunteer Raising Aspirations mentors supporting students at Court Fields School in Wellington.

Somerset Community Foundation’s Raising Aspirations scheme aims to help students vulnerable to under-achievement. Regular one to one contact with a mentor has been proven to raise children’s confidence, self-esteem, academic and employment aspirations, and – ultimately – their academic achievement.

The ideal mentor has life experience to share, patience, and a sense of humour. Raising Aspirations manager Jenny Perez said: “Mentors volunteer for just one hour a month but the quality of the support given is astounding.”
