Wellington to lose its former WH Smith store just five months after takeoverKayley Readings, of Burgage, had been planning to spend Easter helping to install a water harvesting system to collect and store water in a village community centre.
She had been hoping to fly out to Africa with Love Your Neighbour, part of Christian charitable organisation Young Life International, but those plans were put on hold because of the coronavirus crisis.
However, a shipping container partly paid for by Kayley’s fundraising in the Wellington area and filled with mobility aids, has arrived at Kilifi, 35 miles from the coastal city of Mombasa.
Social taboos exist around disability in parts of Kenya and it is hoped the mobility aids and teaching people how to use the equipment will break down those feelings.
Kayley, who is still hoping to go to Kenya when she is allowed, says the shipping container will be used in a school building project.
