TO say I was delighted last Monday evening at Wellington Town Council’s meeting is an understatement.
The council’s decision to donate £10,000 to start fundraising for the Wellington Monument campaign was absolutely wonderful.
What was also fabulous is that the project had the support of every council member there. Some of the members have also offered their time to help me fundraise – I will definitely be calling on them to help!
I have been approached by people letting me know their fundraising ideas in aid of the National Trust’s Wellington Monument renovation project. They are so exciting, ranging from Nancy Powell-Brace’s walk to band nights, to Wellington Monument’s own bespoke Christmas card – more on all these to come. If you have any other ideas, I am here to hear them – and can’t wait.
Many of you have been asking how you can donate directly to the campaign. We now have a donate page found at https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/appeal/help-to-save-wellington-monument. You can also send a cheque to the National Trust making it clear that the money is for the Wellington Monument. The address to send it to is Fyne Court, National Trust, Broomfield, Bridgwater TA5 2EQ. Every penny raised goes straight to National Trust’s Wellington Monument project.
This is the start of the next chapter of our monument. Contact me at [email protected] or phone me on 07779 454246 if you have any questions or ideas. As always, I look forward to hearing from you!
