MORE than £10,000 has been raised for a Wiveliscombe charity as part of a week-long fundraiser.

Wivey Cares raised a total of £10,441.38 for the Big Small Charity Week 2025.

Wivey Cares trustee, Valeria Coots said: “[This is] a total that has surpassed all our hopes and dreams. A total that secures our ability to not just continue the services offered by Wivey Cares but offers opportunities to expand and do even more in the future. A total that shows the kindness and support from the amazing Ten Parishes community.”

From Monday, June 23, until Sunday, June 29, Wivey Cares hosted a number of events and challenges to raise money for its work improving the physical, metal and financial health and well-being of adult residents in ten local parishes.

This year, Wivey Cares was selected for the Big Give Small Charity Week 2025, with Big Give offering to match funding of up to £2,500. Through events and activities throughout the end-of-June week, the project hoped to raise enough money to secure the match funding, to take home at least £5,000.

The charity had, in fact, raised their match funding target by Wednesday evening, June 25, with the help of private donations from clubs and groups, as well as local, regional and international donations, and ultimately surpassed the £10,000 mark by Sunday.

Valeria added: “To everyone who donated an auction lot, a raffle prize, sponsored someone doing one of the challenges, held a coffee morning or lunch club, bought a raffle ticket, bid on an auction lot, attended the Big Breakfast, or hosted one of our collection tins in a local shop - the biggest of thank yous is sent to you all.

“Together we have most definitely proved that Wivey Cares!”
