THE Langford Budville widow of a keep-fit fan who died of a stroke aged just 50 ran in an event on Sunday in his memory.

Sue Musgrove, 55, ran alongside her daughter Alice Rimes-Bowen, 28, in the Stroke Association’s Resolution Run at Escot Park, Ottery St Mary, raising £712 between them.

Sue’s husband and Alice’s step-father, Ian, had a stroke in 2015. Sue said: “Ian’s stroke was a huge shock. He was so fit and healthy. We were always in awe of all his sporting achievements – the week before his stroke, he’d just completed a cycle ride from London to Paris. We miss him dearly and not a day goes by where he’s not in our thoughts.

“It means so much to me and my family to not only raise money but also awareness about stroke. We chose to raise funds for the Stroke Association because of the incredible work the charity does to support people affected by this devastating condition. Ian is our inspiration.”

Alice, from Taunton, said: “We met so many incredibly strong and courageous people. People who had survived a stroke but also many family members and friends whose loved ones have been affected by a stroke in some way, just like us.

“While it was sad to know so many people had suffered, it also felt very uplifting and comforting knowing we were all there for the same reason, to conquer stroke for the future. We love and miss Ian (Muz) and hope we did him proud.”

Sue and Alice would like to thank everyone for their kindness and generosity but are still accepting donations to sponsor them – visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/susan-rimes https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/susan-rimes
