IN THE run up to Christmas, local MP Rebecca Pow has announced the winners of her first ever Best of the High Streets Awards, meeting with each category winner to present their certificates.
The idea of the awards was to highlight the wealth of independent retailers in the area and to encourage support for them in the drive to keep high streets alive and kicking.
Businesses were nominated by customers and they voted on line for their favourites local businesses in various categories.
The MP said: “This was the first time I have run these awards and I was delighted that so many people engaged by voting on line which demonstrates the popularity of our range of independent businesses in the area and how much the individuality and the personal service they give is appreciated.
