A NIGHT of live music and entertainment for a good cause is being held to mark the first anniversary of the death of Philip Knighton, 68, of Wellington, who died after a battle with cancer.

His widow Vivienne says the treatment he received at Musgrove Park Hospital’s Beacon Centre gave him four more years of life.

Now she is organising the concert to raise money for the centre for vital services.

Philip was well known in Wellington, having opened his first shop in South Street

in the early 1980s selling and repairing wind-up gramophones, valve radios, 78 records and LPs.

The concert is being held at The Brewhouse in Taunton on Saturday, February 4 (start time 7.30pm, tickets £18).

Vivienne said: “Featuring many local musicians and friends of Philip, this evening of eclectic entertainment is guaranteed to interest all music lovers.

“The evening will be compered by Jules Bushell with music from acts such as Andy Leggett, the Tone Valley Jazz Band, the Amici Choir, Fodo Higginson, the Silver Street Band, Wellington Arts Association and the Gimlet-Eyed Mariners.”
