CHILDREN at Burlescombe Primary School are getting their days off to a tasty start at a new Breakfast Club.

The youngsters are also enjoying activities at a new after-school club.

Christine Bussell, parent governor, told the WWN: "We were overwhelmed with demand from parents for the school to provide 'wrap around' childcare for three to 11 year olds due to a shortage of childcare facilities in our area.

"The new clubs have been launched after we were successful in getting a Government grant to cover initial setting-up costs and wages for a period of six months."

She said both clubs, which are under the control of the school governors, are OFSTED registered and run by fully qualified staff.

Christine added: "The clubs provide parents with access to registered childcare while they are at work or attending appointments, and give their children an opportunity to enjoy fun activities."

Parents can take advantage of the new school clubs for any length of time between 8am and 8.45am, and between 3.30pm and 6pm, paying a pro-rata cost at £3 per hour.

The school is also hoping to lay on free transport for pupils.
