NEW Wellington PCSO Vicky Ferris is loving her new job and making herself known around the town.

She started work last week after nine weeks of training at Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s headquarters in Portishead, and her appointment means the town now has two beat managers and three PCSOs.

Vicky said: “It has been an interesting few days and I absolutely love the job already. I am learning the ropes, having a walkabout and meeting people.”

Vicky, who previously worked in child protection, was born and bred in Liverpool and lived ‘in lots of places’ before coming to Somerset ‘seven or eight years’ ago.

She is getting married this year – although she has been with her partner 25 years and they have a son of 20.

Vicky won the Fellowship Award, voted for by her fellow students, when she was on her training course.
