A NEW wellbeing hub for locals to drop in for advice and a hot drink in will be launched next week at the Kings Arms Community Hub, Wellington.
The REGAIN Wellington Wellbeing Hub, which will run every Tuesday from February 24, has been developed by local organisations and will provide a warm space for those whose may need help, advice, or a well-needed break.
Some of the local organisations involved in the creation of REGAIN include Somerset Drug and Alcohol Service (SDAS), Somerset Council, NHS Somerset, Nelson’s Trust, Arc Inspire, Wellington Town Council, and Thrive.
Laura Batcha, community development officer for Wellington Town Council, said: “REGAIN at the Kings Arms Community Hub reflects exactly what we want this space to be, accessible, compassionate, and rooted in the community.
“Partnering with SDAS means people in Wellington can access specialist support in a familiar, trusted environment, alongside wider wellbeing and community activities.
“It is a powerful example of how partnership working can reduce harm and strengthen resilience locally.”
Following REGAIN’s opening and introductory presentations, there will be the opportunity to take part in workshops provided by the organisations involved.
REGAIN will be run as a LERO (Lived Experience Recovery Organisation), meaning it will become an independent organisation run by volunteers and mentors with lived experience.
A spokesperson for SDAS said: “Whether you need support, want to regain control of your life or just want to escape the cold for a bit, our doors are opening on February 24 to everybody living or working in Wellington.
“No appointment needed, no stigma, just friendly faces.
“Let us build a stronger, healthier Wellington together.”
Anybody who is unable to make the opening but would like to find out more is invited to follow the launch on Facebook.com/sdasdigital.
