THE Iron Duke in Wellington has ended its first full week of trading with manager Mat Turner describing it as ‘very good’.

Wetherspoon’s latest new pub was officially opened by Olympic bronze shooting medallist Ed Ling, of Nynehead, and Mayor of Wellington Bob Bowrah.

The £2.3 million pub has attracted a stream of customers since it opened, many taken aback with how big and smart

it is.

One customer told the WWN: “This has really brightened up the town centre. It was so drab before. All we need now is for a few more empty shops to be taken over.”

The name The Iron Duke was chosen by readers of the WWN.
